5 Fun Ways To Add Exercise To Your Life

By now you already know that in order
for your body to look and feel good you need to exercise at least
five days per week for a minimum of thirty minutes per day. If you
can fit more in, that's even better, but most of us just seem to hate
to exercise and will find any excuse to get out of it. My dog ate my
sneakers, I have to save my energy for the stress at work, I don't
have the time and on and on.
The reason that we find so many excuses
is that we don't seem to enjoy the time that we spend when we
exercise. It's amazing how many men can spend an hour playing one on
one b-ball, yet are too tired to take a 30 minutes walk after work.
Are you starting to see the correlation between fun and boring?
Fun we like to do, boring we avoid and
exercise equals boring.
However, it doesn't need to be that
way. Here are some ways to add physical activities into your life
without even realizing it.
Put on your favorite high energy CD and dance. It doesn't matter if you dance alone, dance with your significant other or grab the cat – just get up and move. With most CD's being 30 minutes long by the time your done you would have been moving and burning approximately 200 - 250 calories. That is the amount of calories that you took in this morning with your 14 ounce latte.
Walk your kids to school. Ok, maybe your kids are old enough to walk themselves but you can still follow their route and then when they talk about what they saw along their walk, you'll understand. You can also follow one-half block behind. It's a good way to give them their independence yet stay within a safety zone, one your way back home pick up the pace and get a good cardio workout.
Play Laser tag. Have you ever played either laser tag or paint ball? Not only is it an incredible amount of fun, but you get a good workout that you will feel the next day.
Have a pillow fight. Ok, this may sound silly at first and you may be reluctant to try it, but the next time you feel a bit of tension coming on, grab a pillow and start. You'll be surprised as to how good you will feel and how many calories you can burn.
Take your dog for a walk. He'll love it and you'll both be healthier for it. Someone once said that if your dog is over weight then his owner is not getting enough exercise.
I bet that if you looked around you
could find another 50 or so ways to increase your fitness level while
having fun. If you can't think of any, just watch the neighborhood
children for a while they are outside playing. On second thought
don't watch them – join them.
